NORTHEAST VIRGINIA–Today, President Biden delivered a major speech on the state of the economy. After the President’s speech, small business owners from across the country shared their outlook.
“Main Street is vibrant once again with most small businesses rebounding strongly from the Covid-19 pandemic. Thanks in no small part to generational legislative accomplishments like the American Rescue Plan, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and Inflation Reduction Act, there have been over 10 million new small business applications in the past two years, the strongest period on record,”
said Dawn McGruder, Owner of The McGruder Group CPA’s, President of the National Association of Women Business Owners: DC Chapter.
“Small businesses like mine and communities across our country all benefit when we pass smart policies to encourage entrepreneurship - especially those that support women and minority small business owners. Small businesses are the backbone of our communities and major drivers of economic growth. They deserve our full support.”
“Inflation was a big problem for my business over the past two years, and it feels like it’s getting under control. Core inflation is down to 3.1% over the past 3 months,”
said Lynn Petrazzuolo, President and CEO of Avanti Corporation, Women Impacting Public Policy Member, Chair of the Leadership Advisory Council of Women Impacting Public Policy. “The Biden Administration has been committed to putting small businesses first, and it shows. As an environmental science and engineering firm who works directly with Federal Agencies, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law invests in small businesses like mine, and it is making a difference.”
“As Chair of the Women Impacting Public Policy Education Institute, one of our goals is to help women business owners excel in procurement in both the government and the private sector,” said Julie Rothhouse, CEO of SynaVoice, Chair of Women Impacting Public Policy Education Institute, Former Women Impacting Public Policy Board Member. “Over the last two years, we’ve seen a dramatic increase in the number of new small businesses. The economic policies that President Biden and his Administration are promoting will go a long way in helping Women-Owned and other small businesses grow, thrive, and hire more employees, which benefits everyone.”
“Over the past few years, the Virginia Hispanic Chamber and its members have navigated big and complex challenges,” said Michel Zajur, President and CEO of the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Member. “But it finally feels like we’re on the right track toward a stable and prosperous recovery, especially with the strong investments in the future included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act. We appreciate the Biden Administration’s help in getting us there.”
“Through the funding from the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and the CHIPS and Science Act, the Biden Administration has invested in small business owners and the economy,”
said Molly Gimmel, CEO of Design to Delivery Inc and founder of Vellamo Leadership Institute, Former National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) National Board Chair, NAWBO DC Chapter President Emeritus.
“As a leader and advocate in the Women-Owned small business sector, I am encouraged by the work that the Biden Administration has done to uplift minority and Women-Owned small businesses. But I know that small businesses and our economic recovery could be at risk if leaders continue to play games with the debt limit.”
“American Main Street’s are seeing a new economic renaissance with small businesses thriving and succeeding,” said Ann Ramukumaran, Founder and CEO of Ampcus Inc., Capital Region Minority Supplier Development Council Board Member, Women Business Enterprise National Council Board Member, Greater Washington Partnership Board Member, Center for Women and Enterprise Board Member, Women Business Enterprise Council Board Member. “This is a direct result of the Biden Administration legislation like the American Rescue Plan. As the Founder and CEO of a midsize business committed to mentoring small business owners, I am so proud of the bold steps President Biden has taken to bring a positive impact to small business owners nationwide.”
